About Me

Hello!

My name is Matt Petersen. I was born in Montana while my father was stationed there in the Air Force. I was very fortunate to grow up on Florida's "Space Coast" after my father retired from the Air Force in 2000. His service inspired me to join the Navy in 2013 right after I graduated high school. After my initial training I was stationed in Groton, CT to work on various servers and Radio Frequency systems.

During my time in the military, my interest in technology grew exponentially. What really kicked it off was when I learned about the Unix command line in my initial training. Eventually I started to work on Linux servers which led to me buying a Raspberry Pi. From there I started to tinker with the Linux command line more and more.

Now, thanks to that first Raspberry Pi, I am running many self hosted services across multiple Raspberry Pis, and an old desktop computer I used in high school that I've converted into a server.
Some of the services I run from home are:

In the Summer of 2021 I separated from the Navy to pursue my degree, and a career in IT. I feel My time in the Navy has set me up for success in the IT career field.

I am currently attending College at Manchester Community College in Connecticut, for an Associates of Science in Network Technology.
My ultimate goal is to attain a Bachelors in Computer Science with a focus in Cybersecurity.
